The PTA, or the Parent Teacher Association, is a network of families, students, teachers, administrators, businesses, and community leaders devoted to the educational success of children and the promotion of family engagement in schools.
At Pennekamp, the PTA plans, operates and funds much of the school’s experiences, technology, events and so much more.
We are proud that for the 2022-2023 school year your Pennekamp PTA was able to fund NEW technology for the classrooms on campus. All classrooms received large screen interactive touch TV monitors for instruction, as well as other technological enhancements that have allowed our PK teachers to maximize instruction time for our students.
The list below is just a sampling of the things the PK PTA funded last school year. The PK PTA will continue to fund several of these items for the current 2023-2024 school year.

PTA Membership
Pennekamp is able to achieve the excellence in education that makes us a National Blue Ribbon School because of the strong financial support of our families and community. Donations to our PTA help fill the deep gap in state funding, allowing us to provide vital programs and experiences to our students. This year, the PK PTA will spend over $500 per student. It is important to note that your dollars that you donate to the Pennekamp PTA stay at Pennekamp and allow us to make improvements all year long.
We need your help to ensure that we can provide our students with an enriching school experience. Our ask is for each family to contribute $500 per child, this includes the $100 mandatory district technology fee. If you are unable to contribute the full amount, please donate any amount that is meaningful to your family. At Pennekamp our goal is 100% participation.

PTA vs MBEF - Join MBEF Today!
The PTA is an association of PK parents and PK teacher volunteers. MBEF is an independent foundation and operates separately from the PTA. The Pennekamp PTA and MBEF are vital partners in supporting the success of Pennekamp.
The PTA is an association of PK parents and PK teacher volunteers. MBEF is an independent foundation and operates separately from the PTA. The Pennekamp PTA and MBEF are vital partners in supporting the success of Pennekamp.
Your PK PTA works together with MBEF to supplement the financial needs of operating and enhancing Pennekamp. While PTA dollars fund “items” such as equipment, technology, resources and special experiences that are exclusive to Pennekamp. MBEF provides the “people” (ie, Teachers and Specialists) to make the key enrichment programs run throughout the entire district. Check out our PDF below to visually understand the partnership.
Think of it this way: The PTA funds the “ITEMS” and MBEF funds the “PEOPLE”. MBEF provides our Science Teacher, MakerSpace Specialist, Librarian, Music Teachers, and PE Teacher, while your PTA funds all the items needed for the teachers to carry out their lessons and learning.
This partnership is essential to maintaining the strength of our schools. Giving our students everything they need to be successful today and prepared for tomorrow. Together they make the difference that enables MBUSD to be one of the strongest academic districts in the country. Please donate to BOTH the Pennekamp PTA and MBEF today!
